Concept of our kitchen

Welcome to the Magic Hill School Kitchen, we have been running our own school cookery since 2020 and supply meals to 15 primary and nursery schools in the area. We cook over 1,000 portions of food daily.
Modern children’s meals should be based on modern gastronomy, not on outdated recipes. Excessive consumption of, for example, salt, instant basics, flavourings, but also milk as a major allergen or the presentation of monotonous side dishes not only does not meet the requirements of modern healthier eating, but also does not attract children to visit the school canteen. Pupils, especially in the upper grades, are more likely to ‘run away’ to unhealthy fast food offers or skip meals. All of this has a negative impact not only on the healthy physical development of children, but also on the comfort and overall inner well-being of the child. Menus should be based on children’s nutritional needs, entice diners, present new and healthier side dishes, respect seasonality of foods, and include a variety of meats.
We supply meals not only to nearby schools, we also cook for local seniors, summer camps, children’s clubs. Our aim is to contribute to the quality of children’s eating habits, introduce new food recipes, lead children to healthy eating, conscious approach to food, reducing waste.
Our concept is based on traditional Czech cuisine (MENU No. 1), we also offer more modern contemporary cuisine, introduce recipes from international cuisine, include more fish, modern side dishes, unconventional recipes (MENU No. 2) and we also cook vegetarian food daily (MENU No. 3). We also prepare all dietary options.
Our school kitchen rules:
- We prefer local suppliers – we use various organic ingredients
- We trust only verified suppliers
- Monitoring the modern requirements for student diets
- No substitute ingredients
- Limiting the usage of allergens and salt
- Sauces cooked from real meat stock (cooked using genuine meat and bones – no substitutes or instant mixtures
- We only buy refrigerated meat
- We make our own dumplings and desserts
- We primarily use vegetables and herbs from our school farm
- We try to use seasonal ingredients
- We care not just about the taste and quality, but also the appearance of our food
