Jason’s story

I have been working at Magic Hill since 2017 and was recommended to me by a friend who was teaching there at the time. It might seem that I work here because of the good pay, the need for a job and the desire to be part of a team, but something else is important to me – Magic Hill encourages collaboration, my ideas are listened to and the school shares the values that are key to me in a working environment.
I come to work every day with joy because I get to work with people who have a positive attitude towards educating the next generation. I would recommend Magic Hill to anyone who wants to develop their teaching skills, build good relationships with colleagues and students and maintain a positive attitude.
During a typical day at Magic Hill, I spend my time preparing fun and interactive lessons for the next day or week, correcting projects, dictations, and monthly tests. On average, I teach four lessons a day. In addition, I have space for conversations with colleagues, sharing ideas, administrative tasks, or my own professional development.
My mission as a teacher is best summed up in a quote by Haim Ginott:
“I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom. My personal approach creates the atmosphere. My daily mood influences its course. As a teacher, I have tremendous power to make a child’s life miserable or joyful. I can be an instrument of torture or inspiration. I can humiliate or heal. In every situation, it is my reaction that decides whether the crisis will deepen or calm down, whether the child will be seen as a human being or not.”
In short, my job is to create an environment where students feel safe to learn, explore, create and express their identity.
If this vision appeals to you, come join us at school. We’d love to show you how it works here.
