Alena’s story
Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to become a teacher. But not the traditional one 😊. I wanted school to be not only fun for kids, but meaningful. Throughout my teaching career I have tried to find new, interesting and useful methods and inspirations. I have been through several schools and educational concepts, and when I came to Magic Hill in 2018, I was very happy to find that all modern approaches are commonplace here.
I was motivated not only by the environment of the newly built school itself, but also by my colleagues who are very welcoming, inspiring and willing to help at any time. Even after several years, the shared classroom with them is a well of ideas for me and an oasis of cooperation and friendship.
I was completely absorbed in my work at Magic Hill. I enjoy coming up with and implementing different projects that I already knew were beneficial and meaningful, because they go far beyond just gaining knowledge. The children are mainly learning skills and connecting knowledge from multiple disciplines. My English-speaking colleagues, with slightly different personalities and experiences from other countries, showed me how it is possible to look at things from a different perspective. And as a bonus, they helped me improve my English.
I also appreciate that the school’s philosophy is based on continuous staff development. It looks for everyone’s personality strengths and tries to make the most of individual potential.
After several years in this school, I was given the opportunity to combine my teaching skills with my people management skills. I took several courses focused on personal development as well as on management and working with teams of people. In my role as Deputy Head and then as Headteacher, I strive to inspire and motivate my colleagues. I am discovering how fulfilling this work is too. I am surrounded by enthusiastic, creative and responsible colleagues, but above all, they do not forget human values such as understanding, mutual respect and kindness. And although our work is often very demanding, we put our heart into every activity because our greatest reward is happy children. And that is the most important thing for us.
